Stripes & Skulls

I’m a sucker for stripes. Whether black & white or rainbow, horizontal or vertical, thick or thin — I just don’t discriminate against the linear lovelies. I locked eyes on this French connection dress last month and immediately knew it was meant to be. Another more recent obsession — skulls. I know it sounds morbid, but they can actually be quite pretty! I scored this necklace on Gilt Groupe last week and have been obsessing over it ever since.

A new friend I made during the shoot!

Tip of the day: When topping your dresses with blazers and other jackets, add a belt either under or over the blazer to break up the look and add a little flare.

Fall Trend: The Maxi

The jersey maxi dress has been dubbed a “must-have” item for fall. Comfy, versatile and stylish — I am definitely digging this trend. Here, I pair my maxi with a military jacket, another item promising to be big this fall. Top your maxi with anything from a baggy sweater to a blazer, add some booties and you are cool weather ready. Refinery 29 did an article on maxi looks, see here for more ideas. As far as accessories go, I added a neon clutch for a pop of color and layered bracelets — known currently as the “wrist party.” Make your own unique look with assorted bracelets you already have. The idea is to mix textures, shapes and sizes to create an eclectic grouping.

Hippie Chic

I love how today’s fashion is a conglomerate of recycled trends from past eras. Here, I am channelling the 70′s hippie with a tunic and clogs, but add the metallic 80′s-ish tote to make the look my own. This ensemble is not only functional, but also chic and office friendly. (Some tunics I am loving are here and here.) What eras do you like mixing?
